Scrip is a term that means "substitute money". When you purchase scrip, you're purchasing gift cards or gift certificates to national and local retailers. They're the same gift cards that you buy at the store. Many popular retailers that participate in our scrip program include Kohl's, The Gap, Shell, Panera, Chili's, Toys r Us, Best Buy, and many others.
There are many advantages to the scrip program. First and foremost, our school will get a regular source of income. Given the recent economic crisis and budget cuts that have affected our schools, it is now more important than ever to generate funds for our school programs. Scrip is a powerful fundraising alternative that involves no selling...Organization members produce revenue by making regular household purchases that they would make anyway. Groceries, clothing, toys, gifts, even gasoline can be purchased with scrip. Scrip is also a great and convenient way to buy gift cards for holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, or other special occasions.
Just by spending our regular shopping dollars with scrip at the stores that participate in the scrip program, we earn money without spending an additional penny! The Great Lakes Scrip Center acts on behalf of churches, schools, and other non-profit organizations to purchase large amounts of scrip cards from different retailers. Because the scrip cards are purchased with cash up front, the participating retailers offer a substantial discount. You buy the scrip cards at face value from the PTA, and we, the Gill PTA, buy the cards from Great Lakes Scrip Center at a discount. This discount - from 2 to 15 percent or more - is our organization's revenue.
Scrip order sheets are available here on the Gill PTA website. Please print and send payment, checks only, made out to Gill PTA. Orders can also be placed online at www.shopwithscrip.com. Online orders may be paid for by www.shopwithscrip.com's debit payment system. We have included information on placing online orders.
When ordering, please indicate if the gift cards should be sent home with your child or if you will be picking the cards up at school.
