Hi Gill Families,
Amazingly the end of the school year is rapidly approaching and soon we will be in the full swing of spring and year-end school celebrations. The Gill community is wonderful about celebrating the successes of our students in their daily classroom activities and in their extra curricular activities. We would like to take a moment to remind you of an important school issue as you begin to plan these wonderful celebrations.
As you know, several Gill students have food allergies. Some allergies are simply a nuisance, others are severe, even life threatening. Allergies to peanut and tree nuts are most common. Some of our classrooms are ‘nut free zones’ where the snacks and/or lunches for all students in those classes are peanut/tree nut free. One of the primary issues with peanut butter in school is that it is oil based. This oil can remain on surfaces and be accidentally ingested by touching something like a door knob, a book, a sink faucet, and so on that’s why we are asking for everyone’s help.
As you plan your celebrations please be sure to keep the safety of these students in mind and provide peanut/tree nut free snack and treats. This will significantly reduce the risk of an accidental exposure and/or allergic reaction. If you need advice or assistance with planning nut free treats please feel free to consult Mr. Morwaski

The Gill community has been wonderful about always putting children first in their decision-making. Thank you for your cooperation, kindness, and caring as we work together for the safety and well-being of our children.
Thank you,
