Hi PTA Supporters-
 
The Farmington Area PTA Council is once again hosting a 4 day Millionaire Party sanctioned by the Michigan Charitable Gaming division.  We have contracted an outside supplier to provide dealers and equipment;  however we are required to provide to volunteers to work the chip table for purchases and redemptions.  At our first event in June, we made over $3,700.
 
What is a Millionaire Party?  It's basically charity poker.  Black Jack is also available.  Doc's sets up the gaming area and our vendor runs the show.  All we do is man the cash drawer and chip purchases/redemptions.  Our event will be held Friday, August 14 through Monday, August 17th from 1pm - 2 am at Doc's Sports Retreat in Livonia (near 7 Mile and Newburgh).

Why help?  Glad you asked...  Proceeds will be used to fund a new scholarship fund for graduating FPS seniors from participating PTA high schools.  Farmington Central High School is our first PTS(student)A building, and will therefore be our first scholarship recipients.  FCHS students are faced with many challenges; providing scholarship may just be that little extra that keeps a few students going.  Some proceeds will also be used to sponsor district-wide PTA events.  We are currently discussing several events with several local business for "TV Turnoff Week."  We hope to provide family fun events at little or no cost to all our families with some additional PTA funding.
 
Volunteering at our event is also a great way to see if other non-profit groups (like Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Hockey Clubs, Community groups, Church groups, booster clubs, etc.) you're involved with may benefit from hosting your own Millionaire Party.  Working a three hour shift will give you a great feel for how you pull this type of event off.
 
How can I help?  Really glad you asked that one!  I still need a few volunteers for 3 hour shifts.  If you can volunteer as a pair, it's much easier.  I'll be there to start any newbies off.  Available shifts are:
 
Friday - Aug 14 - 11 pm - 2 am (1 person only needed)
Sunday - Aug 16 - 5-8 pm (2 people), 8-11 pm (2 people), 11-2 am (1 person)
Monday - Aug 17 5-8 pm (2 people), 8-11 pm (2 people)
